San Fernando Valley Chinese Cultural Association

Mission Statement
The San Fernando Valley Chinese Cultural Association (SFVCCA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and celebration of the splendors of Chinese civilization. SFVCCA is deeply committed to promoting mutual understanding, respect, and diversity among the many communities which make up Los Angeles through cultural exchange and interaction.

We seek to fulfill the following goals:
  • Provide quality instruction in the Chinese language and Chinese culture activities.
  • Instill students with a deeper understanding and Chinese heritage.
  • Encourage people of all backgrounds to join together in enjoying and celebrating our diversity and common humanity.

    History
The SFVCCA was founded in 1972. Since then, they have expanded to a membership of approximately 700 members in 2007.

    Activities/Achievements/Awards
Annually, SFVCCA holds a fundraising banquet. They sponsor the San Fernando Valley Chinese Language Program as well as a Youth Leadership Program. They encourage them to be active by sponsoring Basketball teams and a Chinese Music Ensemble. SFVCCA is also working with the Chinese Heritage Foundation to establish a center for the association. They also work with the Cultural Exchange Committee, which sponsors more than 80 rural libraries in China as well as seminars in both China and the United States.

    Future Plans
SFVCCA plans to secure funding in order to build a permanent center for the Association.
