Chinese American Association of Walnut

Mission Statement
  • Introduce Chinese culture to the mainstream,
  • be a cultural bridge between the mainstream and the Chinese Americans,
  • encourage Chinese Americans to participate in the Association's programs,
  • help with Walnut's education system to help promote the beauty of Chinese culture.

    History
    Walnut is known as Los Angeles eastside's Little Switzerland. It is surrounded by mountains and streams, with tree lined boulevards and green grassy parks. Many Chinese Americans settled in Walnut because of its lovely environment and excellent schools. Since 1980 for 20 plus years, residents in Walnut that are of Chinese ethnicity have become the majority. In 1989, responding to the wishes of the Chinese Americans to preserve its heritage, a group of people founded theWalnut Chinese Association, later renamed to Chinese American Association of Walnut (CAAW).

    Activities/Achievements/Awards
    Sponsors the Annual Moon Festival Celebration, Senior Day, Law Day. Provides a scholarship and leadership development program. Holds an Annual Fundraising Dinner.
